Horse Farm is owned and operated by Jeff and Shirley
Donohue. The Donohues lived in the Phoenix, AZ area
before relocating to Texas
in 2001. They now own a 41-acre horse farm in Elgin,
TX located just outside of Austin.

Before moving to Texas, Shirley showed in Arabian
breed shows in Scottsdale, AZ. She showed in Hunter
Under Saddle, Country English Pleasure, Sport Horse
Under Saddle, Sport Horse in Hand, Halter, & Native
Costume.
There were also the fun times with the
East Valley
Arabian Horse Association when everyone would head
for the mountains in Prescott to go camping with the
horses. Lots of fun! Loads of great memories!
The Donohues started their breeding program in
1991. The very 1st foal was a ½ Arabian & ½
Saddlebred pinto filly named CB Desert Sunshine. As
exuberant 1st time foal owners, this filly was shown
in 4 weanling futurities. She won 3 of the 4
futurities. As a 3 year old Sunshine went to the
Arabian Nationals where she was Reserve National
Champion
in Western Pleasure! She was sold to a home
in Texas shortly after she won the Reserve National
Champion title. The owner changed her name to
Special E Fex. She now resides somewhere in
California. If anyone sees this mare, please give
her a hug from her original Mom.
Sunshine started the Donohue's love of ½ Arabian
crosses. The Donohues are still breeding ½ Arab
crosses, but are now leaning more towards the
Warmblood crosses. Shirley’s newest interest is in
Dressage.
Jeff has a love of the Missouri Fox Trotter. They
allow him to enjoy riding without hurting
his
sensitive back. Jeff mostly enjoys trail riding. He
loves the horses, but really likes to socialize with
others when riding. Discussions are underway to see
if the Donohue’s may start breeding a few select
Missouri Fox Trotters. As far as the Donohue’s can
tell, there are not a lot of Fox Trotters in the
Austin area.
The Donohues would love for you to give them a
call. They would love to show you their horses, as
well as get to know some new friends.
